As the elections draw near, the Odisha government has unveiled a new initiative known as Swathantra Yuva Udyami (SWAYAM). This program aims to empower the youth of the coastal state by offering interest-free bank loans of Rs one lakh, encouraging them to embark on entrepreneurial ventures.
The state government has initiated a program to offer interest-free bank loans of up to Rs 1 lakh to unemployed adolescents aged between 18 and 35. The objective of this new initiative is to assist young individuals in launching new ventures or expanding their existing businesses.
On Monday, Chief Secretary PK Jena announced that the state Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has approved a proposal regarding this matter. The government has allocated Rs 448 crore from its funds to execute the plan. Jena mentioned that the program is slated to run for a duration of two years.
SWAYAM Scheme Eligibility Criteria:
Young individuals aged 18 to 35 residing in rural areas have the opportunity to seek loans through SWAYAM orSwatantra Yuva Udyami. These loans, amounting to Rs 1 lakh, aim to support the initiation or expansion of their current businesses.
According to official sources, young individuals residing in rural areas who are unemployed or do not have any existing loans from Central or state government-sponsored schemes, and fall within the age bracket of 18-40 years, will be eligible for interest-free bank loans up to Rs 1 lakh to kickstart or expand their business ventures.
